The Left 4 Dead 2 modding community has been active for many years with many different mods being made throughout them. These mods range from model changes to completely new campaigns available for players. While these mods are very impressive, many of the mods for Left 4 Dead 2 are far more funnier than they are scary. The creativity of these mods isnot lacking with many different options to transform the zombie apocalypse into the zombie comedy show.

Players not wanting to break the atmosphere for other players don't need to worry, as mods forLeft 4 Dead 2 are completely local. This means that only the player who installed the mods will see them during gameplay.

Squidward

The first mod is an auditory mod that replaces all footstep sound effects with the sounds of Squidward's footsteps from SpongeBob SquarePants. These sounds, of course, are Squidward's suction cups on the bottom of his feet sticking and unsticking from the ground. While it may sound like this mod will get irritating quickly, the sound is balanced the same as the other footstep sound effects, making it one of the more subtle funny mods that players can add. This mod additionally would work well for players who would want a Spongebob based Left 4 Dead 2 mod set.

The Squidward Footstep mod can be found on the Steam Workshop here.

Burger Tank

L4D Burger Tank

The appearance of a tank can be one of the most stressful parts during a Left 4 Dead 2 campaign when the group isn't prepared. However, something to take the edge off of the experience is converting the mutated and musclebound zombie into a walking meal from McDonalds. The Burger Tank's new anatomy has the Tank's main body converted into a burger, its shoulders turned into soda cups, and its limbs converted into fries. In addition, the Tank throws giant meals at players instead of hunks of concrete pulled from the ground. This mod additionally has no music changes meaning that players can add their own Tank music mods in order to further change up their experiences.

The Burger Tank can be found on the Steam Workshop here.

Any Moon Mod

L4D2 Moon

As the moon is a simple texture, it is very easy to make mods to replace it with other images. While a few of these make the moon beautiful, many of the moon mods replace the moon with funny jokes to surprise players whenever the night sky is exposed.

Some of these mods range from the Harvest Moon from Courage the Cowardly Dog mod, as can be seen above, to the Rolf Moon Mod also available on the Steam Workshop. There are also mods that change the moon into the moon emoji, mods that turn the moon into the moon from Minecraft, and mods that turn the moon into the Demoman's head from Team Fortress 2.

With there being so many mods to change the moon's appearance, just searching 'moon' into the Steam Workshop will give players access to many different moons. Whatever players choose will be waiting for them in the sky to look down upon them.

Untitled Goose Coach

L4D2 Goose

For fans of Untitled Goose Game who wanted to see what would happen if the infamous goose had gotten access to dangerous firearms, they can download this mod to see avian-based chaos reign. This mod replaces Coach's model with the protagonist of Untitled Goose Game with fully rigged animations. The goose is additionally the same scale as it normally would be instead of being a giant goose walking alongside humans.

While the goose is small compared to the other player models, Coach's hitbox still remains the same. This means that other players will need to be careful to not accidentally shoot the goose while they believe they are shooting above its head. Other than that however, the goose is fully capable to take down the many infected plaguing the world after the zombie apocalypse.

The Untitled Goose Coach mod can found on the Steam Workshop here.

Gamer Girl Bath Water Boomer Bile

L4D2 Gamer Girl Bathwater

In reference to internet personality Belle Delphine's infamous 'Gamer Girl Bathwater', players can now have this used bathwater as a replacement for the Boomer Bile item. Big the Cat Boomer

L4D2 Big the Cat

There are plenty of Sonic the Hedgehog themed mods for Left 4 Dead 2. One of these mods replaces all of the Boomer special infected with Sonic's own Big the Cat. The mod comes with a special model after being exploded, jigglebones, and special animation tweaks to make it flow better in-game. It additionally comes with a female variant for female boomers, which is just Big the Cat with different colors and being dressed as Cream the Rabbit.

Whether or not players are fans of the frog-loving cat, there is something inherently funny about seeing Big the Cat among the realistic styled environments of Left 4 Dead 2. He also has the potential to be frightening to find by surprise when not expecting him.

Bill the Tank

L4D2 Bill Tank

While Left 4 Dead 2 players can already control a tank on their own via Versus mode, this mod allows players to control a gun-toting tank that replaces Bill. While it doesn't retain any of its abilities to throw concrete and large objects, it now has access to firearms. As this is a model replacement, Bill will still have his original hitbox like with the Coach mod from before. Players need to be careful to only shoot real tanks and not shoot the friendly tank carrying a gun.
